On Fri. Feb. 22nd the Women's Indoor Soccer team travelled to Georgian College to participate in their Invitational tournament, which saw four teams play in round robin format to determine a winner. The Cougars first faced Lakehead University and outscored the Thunderwolves by a score of 8 - 0. Goals were scored by Taryn Gazankas (3), Megan Sizer (2), Kaitlyn Lambert-Mousseau (2), and Sarah Ferguson (1). The next game was against the host team, and the Cougars played a hard fought game but lost to the Grizzlies 3 - 0. Centennial College was the final game in the round robin and the Cougars knew they needed to pounce to make the finals. They secured the win with a score of 5 - 1; Goals were scored by: Taryn Gazankas (2), Hailey Bryan(1), Taylor Nadeau (1), and Jenna Laitinen (1). This advanced the Cougars to the final which once again saw them face off against the Georgian Grizzlies. The Cougars bounced back after their first lost against the Grizzlies to play a tight game with the score eventually in Gerogian's favour after a successful penalty kick. The final score was 2-1 after a tight match up.
The Women's team will be travelling to Redeemer University on Mar. 4th to participate in the OCAA Regionals where they will play the host team, Humber and Conestoga in hopes of qualifiying for the OCAA Championships.
